About Cebran Eye/Ear Drops

CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID belongs to a group of medicines called 'antibiotics and antiseptics’ primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (optic) and ear (otic). It is also used to treat corneal ulcers (infection and loss of tissue in the clear front part of the eye). Bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID does not work against infections caused by viruses and fungus.

CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID is a combination of ciprofloxacin and Boric acid’. Ciprofloxacin is bactericidal, which kills the bacterial cell by preventing the synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase II and IV, which is essential for the growth and survival of the bacterial cell. It has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative bacteria (that live in oxygen). Boric Acid is an antiseptic. It provides soothing relief from eye or ear irritation and helps to remove air pollutants and foreign materials. Together CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID prevents the spread of eye and ear infections caused by a wide range of gram-negative bacteria causing eye/ear infections.

CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not swallow or inject CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID. You are advised to use CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience redness, itching, irritation, burning or stinging sensation in the eyes, blurred vision, eyelid swelling, itching, or crusting. Most of these side effects of CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.

Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID or any other medicines. You are advised to consult a doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID is not recommended for children below 2 years of age.  However, please consult a doctor before giving CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID to children. You are recommended not to use contact lenses during the course of CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID as it may worsen the infection. If you get any new eye/ear problem, an eye/ear infection, or notice any allergic reactions such as itching or redness of the eye/ear and skin rash, please consult your doctor immediately. Do not take CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.

Medicinal Benefits of Cebran Eye/Ear Drops

CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID is a combination of two antibiotics: Ciprofloxacin and Boric acid primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (like conjunctivitis) and ear infections like (otitis media and otitis externa). Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of fluoroquinolone that kills bacteria (bactericidal action) by preventing the synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase (II and IV), which are essential for the growth and survival of the bacterial cell. CIPROFLOXACIN+BORIC ACID is used to prevent or treat only bacterial eye/ear infections.
